Vinton was founded along the Niahata River, often used as a junction river during the fur trade in the 1800’s. After oil was found in other nearby centers, the population in Vinton dwindled until it was just a small traders’ post for a number of years. Investment in Vinton boomed after the events of World War Two when Chaos Energy became a valuable commodity.
The Niahata River, fed by basins and tributaries from the central region of North America that were highly saturated by Chaos Energy radiation, has a reservoir that became a rich store site for Chaos Energy. International peacekeeping force, The Guardians, set up an outpost in Vinton from which to monitor the effects and study the Chaos Energy. To support the sudden investment in the small sleepy town, The Guardians invested heavily in the infrastructure of Vinton, building neighbourhoods, shopping centres, and bringing new technology initiatives into the city.
Over time, due to administration changes and other international concerns, this branch of the The Guardians would become independently operated with very minimal oversight, and would adopt the name Vinton Guardians Branch, or V.G.B. for short. Research and study into Chaos Energy has remained, however the city has become its own self-sustaining metropolis separate from the initial investment efforts.
